![]() ![]() They're kind of hidden under the motorcycle "special bulbs" section. The off road Rallye motorcycle bulbs were brightest of all the ones I've used. I did the relays, ceramic, overwatt experiment on my old Legacy. The stock wiring is not intended for large current flow. You can do ceramic sockets and over watt bulbs if you want. You do not need ceramic sockets if all your using is Sylvania Golds. They are in Maryland for will-call P/U or will ship. ![]() It's dedicated to automotive lighting improvement.Īn excellent source for any vehicle bulb, especially German bulbs, is Candlepower Inc. Housings designed for HID bulbs are different, they reduce scattering by some clever If you have time check out a forum called HiDplanet. ![]() This means that anyone approaching you from the front is blinded by the light that originates from other areas of the HID tube that is not in the direct focal point. The light is no longer a spotlight, it spreads everywhere to the front of the vehicle. This is not a point-source, it is a fairly large illumination source that is located in and roughly around the focal point for the reflectors.Īs a result the light coming from an HID lamp in a reflector housing is much broader in the illumination pattern. This means that the light goes exactly where it is needed, little light is scattered up in the eyes of oncoming traffic.Ī HID light is a little bottle filled with high pressure gas (Xenon and a few other things) that is exposed to high voltage and the entire volume of the bottle glows. Then the light from this small glowing area bounces off of the reflectors at the back then the laws of optics can allow for the light beam to maintain a very tight focus on the road ahead. Xenon lights use a tungsten filament to create a very small "point source" for light. Maybe it would do good to explain why HID lights installed in a reflector housing becomes a problem ![]()
